Browser extension to remove hot questions from stack overflow

I often check stackoverflow. It has “How Network Questions” block, which tries to catch my attention and sometimes it works. I would like to remove that block. There is a CSS based approach, but here I would like to write a browser extension myself (just for the sake of creating an extension).
